At Health-Smart our aim is to develop and provide personal interactive healthcare platforms to manage monitor and treat chronic conditions, enable clinicians to monitor and help their patients remotely; and empower people to monitor, assess and improve their health and quality of life.
We achieve this through the use of a unique medical platform integrating Wireless Sensors and software to achieve what we term Self Monitoring And Real-Time Telehealth.
The sensors are designed to be user friendly, reliable and sensitive, as well as inexpensive and portable. A wireless Bluetooth link allows them to be connected to a mobile device or a PC. This provides real-time data to both the patient and clinician. This data can be used in several ways with our software to positively affect the behaviour and lifestyle of the patient.

Health-Smart has developed wireless sensors and a telemetric system that will be used in a unique project at the Science Museum. “Thrill” is a unique opportunity for people to explore the intricate connections between the heart, brain and emotions. The event will be held at the Dana Centre in London and will allow attendees to experience a sensory smorgasbord of excitement, fear and fun through participation in and observation of various fairground rides.
Lucky participants selected at random through the “Thrill sick-bag lotto” will have the opportunity to be wired up to Health-Smart’s SMARTHeart (Self Monitoring And Real-time Telehealth) integrated systems while enjoying the attractions. The SMART monitors fuse wireless Bluetooth technology, sophisticated medical electronics and specialised software into a tiny, pocket sized device smaller than an iPod Nano; and measure physiological data including heart rate, ECG and heart rate variability (an important indicator of health and fitness). This data along with the rate of acceleration and facial expressions of the participants will be projected onto the Science museum building via a specially created telemetry system also developed by Health-Smart.
The project is a collaboration between the Science Museum’s Dana Centre, Aerial Health-Smart and Equator and will be running on the 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th, 31st October and the 1st of November. For more details about the events and rides, please visit http://www.danacentre.org.uk.
Symbian will also be demonstrating Health-Smart’s wireless sensors at the Symbian Smartphone show on the 17th and 18th of October. See here for details
